There has been a lot of buzz already for Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Although the film doesn’t hit theaters until October, it debuted last week at the Venice Film Festival to high praise. Director James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic) called it “the best space film ever done.”
The first full trailer has just been released, so let’s take a look:
They’re certainly going for intensity. The thing is, I trust George Clooney immensely. He has an eye for killer scripts. The film was shot digitally, and I suspect the entire thing will take place “in space,” with no on Earth time to be found. Which is a little strange and maybe claustrophobic, but you can bet that’s the aim of Gravity. It wants to be disorienting, thrilling, and uncomfortable.
That’s definitely how the trailer is.
And when your cast is just Clooney and Bullock in close quarters, you can bet there’s going to be some phenomenal acting.
